Challenger Raceway/UFo “Cranks It Up” with a
$25,000 Winner’s Payoff for The Ultimate/Fall Fest 14!
Indiana, PA (January 14, 200 – In 2007, promoters
Jack & Donna Lentz completely revamped “The Ultimate/FallFest” to make this
premier event a premimum race experience for both fans and drivers. The results
were record attendance and a car count exceeding 300 race teams. For 2008, the
Lentz’s have announced that “The Ultimate” will be the mammoth finale of the
Unified Force Race Championship Tour paying $25,000 to the Super Late Model
winner and a payoff of approximately $140,000 for all divisions. The event will
take place on Thursday-Friday-Saturday, October 9-10-11.
Key changes that were made to the 2007 event
included the return of the original event format, reduced pricing and entry
fees, uniform support division rules, the addition of the Semi-Late and
Roadrunner classes and the shift to night-time Super Late Model racing. The
fan-and-driver-friendly Challenger Pass-Maximum format was reinstated where the
drivers drew for position in extended-lap heat races and the top finishing
drivers redrew for heat race position.
“The Ultimate” Super Late Model championship
featured 5 lead changes and saw Billy Drake make a late-race pass for the lead
after redrawing the 15th position on the feature starting grid and starting 8th
place in the 11-car qualifying heat race. In the following Semi-Late feature,
Mike Knight from Ripley, NY charged from his 9th place staring position to claim
the win. Alan Dellinger from Hermitage, PA returned to FallFest victory lane by
winning the Cadet feature while Matt Hay of Somerset, PA took the Mod-Lite win.
Tom Pavelko of Cherry Tree, PA took his first-ever feature win in the Roadrunner
class in a race that saw the leaders change the point 8 times. The Sport Stock
championship featured an amazing 9 lead changes with Tim Loughard from Vinco, PA
making a last-lap pass for the win..
New clay was laid two months prior to the event and
produced incredible side-by-side racing throughout the weekend. All 700 plus
racing laps of the event generated multi-groove racing to final lap of the
weekend. This event showcased the Lentz’s dedication to provide the race teams
and fans the best surface possible for events at Challenger.
Several exciting changes are already finalized for
the 2008 version of “The Ultimate”. The feature event will pay a whopping
$25,000 to the winner, and the race has been extended to 91 laps as a tribute to
the first year that wheels hit the surface at Challenger. The race is the finale
of the $316,000 UFo Race Championship, which will include at least 8 events at
the Challenger Raceway and Pittsburgh’s PA Motor Speedway throughout the season.
