Challenger Raceway/UFo “Cranks It Up” with a $25,000 Winner’s Payoff for The Ultimate/Fall Fest 14!
 
Indiana, PA (January 14, 200 – In 2007, promoters Jack & Donna Lentz completely revamped “The Ultimate/FallFest” to make this premier event a premimum race experience for both fans and drivers. The results were record attendance and a car count exceeding 300 race teams. For 2008, the Lentz’s have announced that “The Ultimate” will be the mammoth finale of the Unified Force Race Championship Tour paying $25,000 to the Super Late Model winner and a payoff of approximately $140,000 for all divisions. The event will take place on Thursday-Friday-Saturday, October 9-10-11.
 
Key changes that were made to the 2007 event included the return of the original event format, reduced pricing and entry fees, uniform support division rules, the addition of the Semi-Late and Roadrunner classes and the shift to night-time Super Late Model racing. The fan-and-driver-friendly Challenger Pass-Maximum format was reinstated where the drivers drew for position in extended-lap heat races and the top finishing drivers redrew for heat race position.
 
“The Ultimate” Super Late Model championship featured 5 lead changes and saw Billy Drake make a late-race pass for the lead after redrawing the 15th position on the feature starting grid and starting 8th place in the 11-car qualifying heat race. In the following Semi-Late feature, Mike Knight from Ripley, NY charged from his 9th place staring position to claim the win. Alan Dellinger from Hermitage, PA returned to FallFest victory lane by winning the Cadet feature while Matt Hay of Somerset, PA took the Mod-Lite win. Tom Pavelko of Cherry Tree, PA took his first-ever feature win in the Roadrunner class in a race that saw the leaders change the point 8 times. The Sport Stock championship featured an amazing 9 lead changes with Tim Loughard from Vinco, PA making a last-lap pass for the win..
 
New clay was laid two months prior to the event and produced incredible side-by-side racing throughout the weekend. All 700 plus racing laps of the event generated multi-groove racing to final lap of the weekend. This event showcased the Lentz’s dedication to provide the race teams and fans the best surface possible for events at Challenger.
 
Several exciting changes are already finalized for the 2008 version of “The Ultimate”. The feature event will pay a whopping $25,000 to the winner, and the race has been extended to 91 laps as a tribute to the first year that wheels hit the surface at Challenger. The race is the finale of the $316,000 UFo Race Championship, which will include at least 8 events at the Challenger Raceway and Pittsburgh’s PA Motor Speedway throughout the season.
 
The Challenger Raceway will open its season on Saturday & Sunday, April 12 & 13 with the inaugural UFo PA State Short Track Championships, which replaces the former Springfest event. Super Late Models will compete for $2,000 to win on Saturday with the Cadets paying $600 to win and Sport Stocks paying $300 to win for the PA State Short Track Championship events for those 2 classes. Open practice for all other divisions of cars will also be held on Saturday. Sunday, April 13 the first-ever UFo Race Championship event will become reality as the Super Late Models will race for $5,000 to win, with Semi-Lates paying $1,000 to win, E-mods paying $800 to win and Roadrunners paying $250 to win in the PA State Short Track Championship races for those 4 classes. Other Challenger 2008 events include the Mega-Blitz 2008 tentatively scheduled for Sunday, June 1 and Tri-Star Superthunder on Sunday, July 20. Pittsburgh’s PA Motor Speedway will kick off 2008 with an open practice on Saturday, March 29 and will feature weekly Saturday night racing beginning April 5. PPMS will host UFo Race Championship events with the F-2 Shockwave on Sunday May 18, the Red Miley 53 on Sunday, July 13 and the PENNational on August 17 plus the massive Pittsburgher 100 event on Thursday-Friday-Saturday, September 18-19-20.
