PPMS/UFo Announce $20,000 to win Pittsburgher Plus F-2 Shockwave Information!

Miley Motorsports has released exciting event details for 2 of their Unified Force Race Championship events of the upcoming season at Pittsburgh’s Pennsylvania Motor Speedway. PPMS will host a total of 4 events of the $316,000 UFo Race Championship beginning with the F-2 Shockwave on Sunday, May 18 and concluding with the Pittsburgher 100 on Thursday-Friday-Saturday, September 18-19-20.

In 2008, the Pittsburgher 100 returns to its full power with a 100 lap national championship event paying $20,000 to win and $1,000 for the 24th position for the UFo Super Late Models. Eight additional positions have been added to the starting grid for the 100-lap mega-event, increasing the feature race starting field to 32 positions and creating a payoff that reaches deep into the field. The total event payoff for the UFo Super Late Models will top $80,000. Race fans will have the rare opportunity to witness a true dirt-style, superspeedway event on the monster half-mile with the increased starting field.

The format of the Pittsburgher 100 will follow UFo Race Championship procedures with drivers drawing for starting positions in extended lap qualifying heat races on Friday Night, September 19 with consolations and the feature set for Saturday, September 20. The top drivers that qualify for the heat races will redraw for feature starting positions and all restarts will utilize the total double file format with the exception of 1 or 2 laps remaining in a heat race. The UFo Race Championship format has been carefully engineered to be both driver and fan friendly as it promotes passing while assuring enough racing laps for all drivers to advance into qualifying positions from their initial starting position. All UFo events at PPMS will use the PPMS “lucky dog” rule of returning cars that are 1 lap down at the time of a caution or red flag to the lead lap, at the tail of field.

PPMS will host their first UFo Race Championship event on Sunday Night, May 18 with the F-2 Shockwave. This event will feature twin 30-lap UFo Super Late Model Championships paying $2,500 to win each event, for a total of $5,000 to win. Miley Motorsports has also announced that the staring field for both features will be increased to 32 positions, adding another $1,600 to the feature payoffs. The 1st feature will be aligned by standard UFo redraw format with the 2nd feature using a random inversion of the finishing order of the 1st race to determine the starting grid.

Support division racing for the PPMS UFo Race Championship events will include Semi-Lates, E-mods and Cadets which will follow the standardized rules for those classes posted on the UFo Race Championship website with the possibility of minor weight and spoiler adjustments due to track size of PPMS. These same rules are used by the Challenger Raceway for all of their events.

The UFo Race Championship is an exciting new concept which aligns western Pennsylvania clay-surface speedways with unified rules and procedures and allows Super Late Model competitors to compete for over $316,000 of payoffs including a season-ending points bonus. The UFo Race Championship is designed to help competitors control expenses by implementing cost-savings rules options and allowing the opportunity to compete in high-dollar events within minimal travel distances.

The inaugural event of the UFo Race Championship will take place on Sunday, April 13 at the Challenger Raceway with the first running of the PA State Short Track Championships highlighted by the $5,000 to win, “Area 51-lap” Super Late Model Championships. Other events include the F-2 Shockwave at PPMS on Sunday May 18, Mega-Blitz 2008 at Challenger on Sunday, June 1, the Red Miley 53 at PPMS on Sunday, July 13, Tri-Star Superthunder at Challenger on Sunday, July 20, the PENNational at PPMS on Sunday, August 17, all paying $5,000 total to win. The tour will conclude with Pennsylvania’s two superstar events, the $20,000 to win Pittsburgher at PPMS on Thursday-Friday-Saturday, September 18-19-20 and The Ultimate 14/FallFest at Challenger on October 9-10-11 paying $25,000 to win.
