Mercer, PA…After much discussion, Mercer Raceway Park has announced
it’s fourth and final division for it’s season opener on Saturday, March 29. The
E-Mods will again be part of the “Chiller Thriller,” but with a new twist as the
event will be sanctioned by the new United E-Mod Series (UEMS). The E-Mods will
join the Steel-Block Late Models, Stock Cars, and Mini Stocks.
A great payoff has been established as the winner will now receive $750
rather than the $500 that was posted for the prior two “Chiller Thriller”
events. $500 will now go to second with $65 to take the green. For a complete
payoff and more info on the United E-Mod Series, check out their website at
www.unitedlatemodelseries.com.
“Our main concern with having the E-Mods was car count,” explained 10th
year owner Vicki Emig. “When UEMS announced they were starting an E-Mod Series
we felt this was a way to insure a good field of cars and keep the E-Mods a part
of the Chiller Thriller. We’ve enjoyed working with Chris Zuver of ULMS in the
past with the Late Models and he feels he’s going to have a strong following and
we can get a good turnout of the northern cars.”
Though the “Steel-Blocks” will be the division name, the event will
encompass all non-super/open Late Model divisions throughout the region using
The Challenger Raceway’s rules and more importantly will be a great test for the
new FASTRAK Late Models, which will appear weekly at Mercer in 2008. The 30-lap
feature will pay $2,000 to-win. A complete payoff will be released in the
future.
Though the Stock Car division will not be on the weekly card at Mercer in
2008, they will again be participating in the “Chiller Thriller” using the open
competition “Little Guy Nationals” rules. The 25-lap feature will pay $1,000
to-win. A complete payoff will be released in the future.
The ever-growing Mini Stock division will be the third division part of the
season opening “Chiller Thriller”. Their 15-lap feature will pay $150 to-win.
Started with just one car on opening night in 2007, the Mini Stocks ended the
season strong with 27 cars participating in the final event and more than 40
cars throughout the season.
The event will carry a rain date of Saturday, April 5. If the event is
completed, it will then be the first five-division program of Sprint Cars,
Modifieds, FASTRAK Late Models, Mod Lites, and Mini Stocks.
