FASTRAK celebrates "Night of
Champions"
FASTRAK "Night of Champions" National Points
Banquet this Saturday!
The time has finally come. The FASTRAK $50,000 to
win National Points Banquet is almost here. The trophies are ready. The forty
some jackets are ready. The cash is ready and the Nation's largest 'grass roots'
point fund banquet is almost ready to begin. The banquet will be held this
Saturday January 26th at the beautiful Nashville Airport Marriott located on
sixteen acres adjoining the airport property. The property was chosen because of
its central location in the United States to all FASTRAK teams.
Young William Thomas of Phenix City Alabama, in the
now famous yellow #22 car, will be honored as the youngest National Champion in
dirt late model history. Varying much from the 2006 season as that Champion was
Hot Rod LaMance as one of most elderly National Champions in history. "It just
goes to show how equal this series really is" said FASTRAK Vice President Doug
Gillenwater.
Champions from across the United States will be in
attendance during what has become one of the largest racing events of the
industry. Track Champions, Regional Champions and the overall Grand National
Champion will be in attendance and honored that evening. The Champion of the
CARS series out of Illinois will also be honored at the FASTRAK National
Banquet. Nick Lyons was the CARS Series Champion in 2007, but since that time
CARS has ceased operations. FASTRAK took it upon themselves to honor
Lyons.
There will be seminars starting Thursday for
Regional Directors. Friday will have FASTRAK weekly sanctioned tracks from
across the country coming in for rules information and training seminars on
marketing for weekly tracks. There will also be a technical inspection process
for all weekly tracks later that afternoon with FASTRAK National Technical
Director Rick Ellison. Saturday will bring about a Marketing class for all
FASTRAK teams to teach them about co-op advertising funds and how to go out and
get sponsorship. A rules meeting for all teams will follow that afternoon with
the Points banquet to follow.
Guest speakers of the evening will include Bill
Martens, Manager of General Motors Performance Parts crate engine program and
Scott Junod, Marketing Director of the Goodyear Racing Short Track
Program.
