FASTRAK to be Owned by Race
Teams???????
The announcement was made at the FASTRAK Racing
Series National Points Banquet. Could it really be true that a racing series
would actually allow the race teams to participate in OWNERSHIP? Yes the time
has come.
FASTRAK did announce that 45% of the private stock
would be for sell to anyone under contract with the racing series. Members, team
owners, weekly tracks, employees and all the sponsors of the series will
actually have 'ownership' of what they put their hard earned money into each
week. 'I know some people think I am nuts', said Founder Stan Lester. 'Why in
the world would we sell any part of something that is 'debt free' and growing
tremendously every day? "Well" said Lester "it won't be the first time people
thought I was crazy. You should have been around when we started touring with
crate engine late models. It's pretty comical now but it didn't seem quite as
funny in 2004 when we started. Here's the way I see things. I raced for years
and years and we won't talk about how long that really was but a long time. Now
if I was a racer or someone affiliated with FASTRAK and I actually owned a piece
of it, then I think I would be much more likely to help build it as well. To me
that's just good old common sense. Our race teams, sponsors (marketing
partners), tracks and regions built this company. Once piece at a time the teams
came and supported us. Some left but most have stayed. Our tracks and sponsors
were the exact same way. WE built this company together. It was never about me
and what I could do. I am just one man but some of these teams caught the vision
of what FASTRAK is all about and they deserve to be owners. After all, they
helped build it. So why should they not gain from the profits of what they have
created"?
FASTRAK announced that once the initial offering
was sold then the decision would be up to the teams to take it public or not.
"It's up to them" said Lester. "Yes I would still own majority of the stock but,
they would have major influence in that decision. To me it doesn't matter", said
Lester. "If they want to move on with it, then that's what we will do. I am just
very proud to have everyone involved with us to become owners as well. That's
exciting".
After the announcement at the banquet, the phones
started ringing. People have been inquiring everyday. So much so, that FASTRAK
has started a waiting list and the stock will be issued on a first come first
serve basis, according to the ledger sheet in the corporate office.
"The programs we currently have in place have been
successful" said Lester. "I'm grateful for that. The new programs coming in 2009
should just blow the roof right off this company. I may not be quite as visible
as I have been in the past, but I am not retiring by any means. I'll work here
until they run me off. I had someone email me just recently and asked if I
wanted them to keep contacting me or someone else. Don't quit calling me!
Talking with our teams, tracks and sponsors everyday is what keeps me
going".
